In the Spring of 2007, a group of Orthodox Christians living in the Auburn/Opelika area, about 45 miles East of Montgomery, formally expressed their desire to form a mission parish to our Metropolitan Bishop Alexios. At this time, Father is assisting the lay leaders with the formation and planning for the mission parish.
Currently, we meet for the Divine Services and Fellowship once per month (on a Sunday evening) at the Chapel of the Holy Dormition of the Theotokos located at the home of Mr. Chris Koullas (koulproperties@hotmail.com). Professor Achilles Armenakis, along with Chris, are the contact persons for the Mission, as well as for the OCF (campus ministry) at Auburn University. Father, along with Mr. Koullas and Dr. Armenakis, are gathering names for the formal petition that will ultimately grant the Orthodox Christians of Auburn/Opelika a charter, so that they can form a parish.
Orthodox Christians who are living in the Auburn/Opelika area are urged to contact Father , Mr. Koullas, and/or Dr. Armenakis, so that you can be included on our e-mail list for announcements of upcoming Divine Services.
You can reach Dr. Armenakis at his e-mail armenac@auburn.edu. Please click on the calendar link to see date(s) and time(s) for services.
