  • LITURGICAL LIFE HOUSE BLESSINGS
It is a tradition to have our home blessed in the beginning of the year. It is also a nice opportunity to get the family together and participate in a vital part of our Christian faith.
According to Orthodox doctrine, holy water has the power to sanctify and heal. Have each family member drink a small amount of the holy water from Epiphany or the home blessing. Keep the holy water from the Eve in your home iconostasis for future use: times of adversity, before starting a new venture or trip, to give thanks, or when someone is ill.
To rid the house of evil spirits it should be sprinkled in the four corners of each room, so no one will step on it. I pray that you will make the time and effort to bless your home.
For questions and/or assistance please contact Father.

  • COFFEE HOUR UPDATE
The Philoptochos is seeking volunteers to help with coffee hour!

One or two hosts are assigned to a Sunday. Each host is asked to provide pastries, cookies, cake, etc. for approximately 35-40 people, and to stay around and help clean up after coffee hour. The donated goodies can be either store bought or home baked, and you can volunteer for any Sunday that's available.

Take this opportunity to sign up and help out - the schedule book is kept in the parish hall. If you have any questions or require any assistance please contact the Philoptochos President,
Mrs. Georgia Kamburis, at telephone 334-272-2845

  • THE SAMARITAN FUND HAS BEEN INAUGURATED!!
"If you ever wish to associate with someone, make sure that you do not give your attention to those who enjoy health and wealth and fame as the world sees it, but take care of those in affliction, in critical circumstances, who are utterly deserted and enjoy no consolation. Put a high value on associating with these, for from them you shall receive much profit, and you will do all for the glory of God. God Himself has said, "I am the father of orphans and the protector of widows." [Ps. 67:6 LXX]
St. John Chrysostom, Baptismal Instructions, 6.12

This is the spearhead of a very vital ministry in our parish. The Samaritan fund has been established by action of the Parish Council to receive donations as individuals, groups and/or businesses feel led by the grace of God the Holy Spirit. These funds are then made immediately available to Father Ioannis for the direct relief of the poor and suffering of our community. We all know we're in difficult economic times, and the local community in which our parish resides has been especially hard hit. Our Lord said that 'Whatever you do for the least of these you have done to me," and this is our opportunity, through the hands of our Priest, to do exactly that - to give back to the Lord by giving to those that He sends to our door. Please pray about writing a check or making a donation and designating it 'Samaritan Fund.' You won't be sorry.
